Geography is important, so here’s a rundown: Signals Midwest is an indie-rock-tinged punk band from Cleveland, Ohio. Members currently reside in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. Since forming in 2008, they have released six full-length albums and a slew of split 7″s and EPs. Their most recent LP, the career-spanning collection “Layovers”, was released by Los Angeles punk stalwart Lauren Records in July of 2025.
“Siggies”, as one particularly eloquent fan dubbed the group somewhere along the line, has extensively toured North America, Europe, the UK, Australia and Japan. Their brand of wide-eyed, cathartic punk careens between influences pulled from both coasts in addition to their regional namesake, with wisened, earnest vocals and linear song structures reminiscent of perennial post-hardcore favorites Braid, Jets To Brazil, and Small Brown Bike.
Playing in a rock band can be a beautiful, peculiar lens through which one might view the world. As they approach nearly two full decades of existence, Signals Midwest is grateful to be taking in the scenery and still doing the damn thing.
