Philadelphia Dub International: Three/ OBF Meets Iration Steppas Alongside House of Roots Soundsystem

Philadelphia Dub International presents O.B.F. meets Iration Steppas US Tour – Session Three Philadelphia Dub International is the latest Series of Soundsystem Sessions Hosted by House of Roots SoundSystem presented by Dumplin & Chips. Featuring the finest in Deep Roots Reggae and Dub from around the globe including Selectors, Producers and Artists, powered by and alongside Sir Phillpotts House of Roots Heartical Dub Machine. This landmark tour features two legends of the international Dub Soundsystem movement. We are honored to be hosting the Philadelphia leg of this eight city US tour. Not enough can be said of the impact these two crews have had and continue to have on the rise of the international dub movement. Iration Steppas / Biography Founded by Mark Iration and Dennis Rootical, Iration Steppas burst onto the UK sound system scene in the 90s with a futuristic take on dub music. While being inspired by Jamaican roots reggae, their artistry was also massively influenced by hip hop, house and other electronic music, using techno and acid sounds in a way that had never been heard before. In the last 30 years, Iration Steppas has become a major player in the international dub scene. The crew has touched down on every continent shelling the dancehalls and leaving a huge impact on producers and sound systems alike. Often copied, never matched and always at the top of their game, Iration Steppas have clearly set new trends and shaped the history of dub. O.B.F. / Biography O.B.F (Original Bass Foundation) are a French dub and experimental reggae sound system based on the outskirts of Geneva. The crew, initially made up of producer & selector Rico, operator G and manager Stef rose up in the mid 2000s with their forward thinking dub music. Heavily influenced by Jamaican reggae, 90s UK dub and contemporary urban music, O.B.F’s sound is distinctive and versatile. They started off as an underground sound system mostly playing at Genevan squat parties. The unique sounds of Rico’s productions rapidly gained hype within the dub community and in 2006 O.B.F started putting on their own nights at “Le Zoo” L’Usine, Geneva’s biggest club. Since then, their notorious “Dubquake” nights have become a true institution in the European night scene. The interest around the sound system has grown exponentially ever since. House of Roots Heartical Dub Machine is a Deep Roots Reggae SoundSystem based in Philadelphia USA. Playing the best in conscious reggae from around the globe inna heavyweight dubwise style on the custom built analog soundsystem that is the Heartical Dub Machine. Built through the inspiration on H.I.M Rastafari and in the tradition of the Jamaican and UK Soundsystems of old and new. House of Roots is a true WORD, SOUND, POWER experience.

She Past Away ~ LUNACY ~ Mighty Mike Saga

**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PMShe Past Awayhttps://shepastaway.orgLUNACYLUNACY is a dystopian shadow figure located in Rural Pennsylvania— a character set in the empty corroded future focusing on themes of loneliness, emptiness & mental illness. A character that often fits the description of late ‘80s & early ‘90s post-apocalyptic films. The project rose to the surface in 2016 with a set of 4 track demo recordings and consistently released material every 6 months until the release of the debut album Age Of Truth on Third Coming Records in Winter 2019. All releases have always been based around art and design of a specific release and have always been released in limited colorways, always selling out quickly. The project often described as lo-fi, noise and ambient explores different elements of shoegaze, minimal synth & post punk while developing a sound unique and identifiable to the project. Over a short time, Lunacy has shared the stage with the likes of Chrome, A Place To Bury Strangers, King Dude, Health, Youth Code, Automelodi, Bambara, Twin Tribes, Sextile, Skeleton Hands, SRSQ, & Tempers while also having a small run in Europe with Some Ember & Offermose in 2018. Lunacy has a full US tour booked with MVTANT from September through November of 2021 in anticipation for the Sophomore release of “Echo In The Memory” – out April 1, 2022 on Oliver Ackermann’s (A Place To Bury Strangers / Death By Audio) newly founded label Dedstrange. Echo In The Memory marks a new chapter for LUNACY’s sonic annihilation centered around trying to rebuild a world that no longer exists. Previous works have been recorded on a 4- track Tascam Portastudio using various analog single unit drum machines, guitar, bass and synths. On this upcoming release the recording process has changed quite a bit. Echo In the Memory was recorded on an Otari Broadcast MX50/50 – a 4 track 1/4 inch tape machine brought back to life by Sean Hur. All backing tracks, drum samples & loops were produced on an all black MPC1000 except, “Fragmented Pulse” which used the classic DR-55 with an 8/12 bitcrusher fuzz pedal handmade by Kyle Reiff. Both analog & digital synths were used along with guitar & bass with various effects pedals. Recorded over a two year period from 2019 – 2021 in the Dustbin in Rural Pennsylvania, mixed by Connor Clasen & Mastered by Oliver Ackermann. In the Lunacy tradition, Echo In The Memory was released on two variants of Limited colored vinyl, featuring original cover art from Dusty Ray and Logo work from Jesse Draxler. Echo In The Memory was released on Dedstrange on April 1, 2022. Lunacy will release its follow up EP ‘Under Pressure’ on May 26, 2023. Mighty Mike Saga – DJ SET
