CURFEW x SIP CITY
CURFEW and Sip City Mixer are teaming up once again for an early Fall queer rave that will have you shakin’ ass all night. Expect a mix of house and club music with pop-up performances from the Curfew crew. If you came to our Pride 2025 collaboration, you know we love to have a good time. Our guest DJ is ROJO (PGH), joining resident DJ kraftwitch and your hosts Icon Ebony-Fierce and Jimmy. ROJO is a DJ and Event Architect based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Defying genres and blending the sounds of house, disco, funk, soul and more, ROJO is the resident DJ at numerous nightlife venues across the city, plays numerous festivals and has opened (and offered support) for several big name acts including Big Freedia, Trixie Mattel and Nina West. As a representative of both the Black and LGBTQ+ communities, ROJO approaches each DJ set as a celebration of individuality, love, and liberation. ROJO is also the creator of Twirlosophy, a QBIPOC music and events collective hosting regularly occurring parties such as “Twirl” and “Hot Stuff Disco.”
OURfest: CURFEW presents The Carry Nation (NYC)
CURFEW presents a Philadelphia OURfest kick-off Friday night, featuring headlining icons of the New York underground music scene The Carry Nation. Joining The Carry Nation is resident CURFEW DJ kraftwitch, along with hosts Icon Ebony-Fierce, Jimmy and guest performers TBA. The Carry Nation (Nita Aviance and Will Automagic) are DJs and producers whose style is deeply rooted and fundamentally intertwined with the historical arc of New York City’s most affirming nightlife experiences. Nita is a noted member of the legendary House of Aviance. She started DJing around the turn of the millennium and was a resident at the infamous Mr. Black and Westgay, both touchstones for queer artistry and culture in downtown nightlife of the early 2000’s. Will has deep roots in NYC club culture, having worked at The Loft and collaborated closely with David Mancuso, holding residencies at many of the downtown New York clubs over the years including The Limelight, Life and Vandam. After dividing his time between NYC and Paris, working on music with fashion houses such as Issey Miyake, Vivienne Westwood and Yves Saint Laurent, Will returned to DJing dance floors when he co-created SPANK with partners Sean B & Jason Roe. What started as a basement dance party evolved into a roving art-based warehouse party along with a namesake zine. SPANK began to work closely with Horse Meat Disco and the close relationship with that crew has extended in various forms through the years into the present. Currently, Nita and Will perform globally as both individual DJs and, more often, as a duo –they are most recognized for epic extended B2B sets and their wildly successful monthly queer party (also known as The Carry Nation) at Brooklyn’s Good Room. Their range is wide and exciting, and in the New York tradition they effortlessly flow through genres and time periods while keeping a modern edge. Since the inception of The Carry Nation, the duo has toured the world extensively including Glastonbury’s Block 9 and Berlin’s Berghain/Panorama Bar among many others. They also have a residency at Ladyfag’s flagship monthly Battle Hymn. As producers, their credits include releases and remixes on Get Up Recordings, Classic Music Company, TRIBAL, Nervous, TRAX, Batty Bass, TWIRL, W&O Street Tracks and more. Their latest venture is Major Records, an imprint they co-founded with Justin Cudmore to showcase their Majorettes collaboration with releases that are setting dancefloors alight with a fresh but classic house vibe that stays rooted in the excitement of New York’s history and underground.
