Soft Crash (Phase Fatale b2b Pablo Bozzi, Silent Servant, Amnesiac Host (live)

Join us for the Philadelphia debut of Soft Crash, the collaborative project of Berlin-based Hayden Payne (Phase Fatale) and Pablo Bozzi. The pair describe their sound as “Italo Body Music,” taking influence in equal parts from synthwave, EBM, Italo and techno. Soft Crash will be fresh off the release of ‘Your Last Everything’, an 8-track LP where they expand their production focus to areas such as electro, acid house, bleep, hi-nrg, and IDM. ‘Your Last Everything’ is due out for release on October 28th via Payne’s own BITE Records label. Payne launched BITE in 2018 with ‘Confess’, a collaboration EP he wrote with LA-based Silent Servant. The two have a long history of working together, so it’s no coincidence they’re on the bill together this Black Friday. Before the Soft Crash headline set, Silent Servant will take the decks to deliver his signature blend of EBM, minimal techno, and everything in-between. The project is the long-time moniker of Juan Mendez, who served as a key figure in the early-2000s Sandwell District collective with Karl O’Connor (Regis), Peter Sutton (Female), and David Sumner (Function). Mendez made unique blends of ambient textures and minimal techno with Sandwell before shifting focus to his Jealous God imprint, a label he formed with O’Connor and James Ruskin as a way to bridge gaps between the techno and EBM/industrial worlds. DC-based Amnesiac Host opens the night with a live techno set: he’s half of the Darkroom Bureau label and one of the organizers behind ‘100% Live Techno’, an event series he co-hosts with Philadelphia-based Monix and several others. He recently released ‘Two-Sided Ideal’, a 3-track EP which prioritizes deep kicks and discordant atmospheres. Expect the live set to follow in similar form; he adds, “Everything takes shape in a continuous mix with a modular synth, MPC, and a xone92. I say ‘mix’ because I move between sequences on the xone similar to how I would move between tracks when DJing. I minimize hard transitions, spending more time on the EQs, faders, and filters instead. The overall atmosphere I try to make is one with lush chord pads and subtly-moving FM leads.”

Kaptain (Stephen Kaplan) is an electronic music producer, musician, and performer living in Denver, CO. His style can be described as a blend of electronic, bass music, classic/psychedelic rock, and funk. He infuses live instruments like guitar, keyboard, and analog synthesizers with vinyl samples and electronic production to create a beat-driven, yet emotive brand of dance music. Kaptain’s live show is a high-energy blend of keyboard/synthesizer performance and DJ set, and often includes a guitarist. Kaptain has played a number of shows, most notably as support for The Funk Hunters, Big Wild, Late Night Radio, and a Break Science/Lettuce super-jam. He has produced remixes for the likes of Greek-psychedelic rock band Naxatras, Wet Paint, and Willdabeast of Michal Menert’s Super Best Records. Doc Scott & Ant TC1 – THE METALHEADZ 2022 US Tour

Resonate, ReignForest, LEFT RITE and Tenure DC would like to present to you something that we feel strongly about…..THE METALHEADZ 2022 US Tour Doc Scott – A true veteran and leading tastemaker in D&B!Doc Scott has been an essential and pivotal figure in the scene since before its inception and continues to push things forward. Founding member of ‘A Bunch Of Cuts’, his DJ sets in the mid-90s became legendary, notably at the Metalheadz Blue Note sessions and ‘Speed’. Although primarily a DJ, his productions are definitive classics within the scene, such as ‘Here Comes The Drumz’ on Reinforced, the first ever Metalheadz release ‘VIP Drumz’, to the more mellow sounds of ‘Tokyo Dawn’ on Good Looking Records. His own label 31 Records, sparked by Scott’s ground-breaking ‘Shadow Boxing’, has also been a hub for new talent, pushing some of the biggest artists today in their early days. Ant TC1 Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992). His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder. After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music. By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky. Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival & DLR has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records. In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem.
